Before your surgery, you will be notified of the date and time in advance and you have a visit of your doctor. It is possible that changes in the schedule may take place in unforeseen emergencies. We ask that you arrive on an empty stomach and stop eating, drinking and smoking at least 6 hours in advance. You can only take your medicine if your doctor tells you to.
On the day of the operation, you should not wear makeup, nail polish or false angles and jewelry. You are also asked to remove your contact lenses, dentures, hearing aids, as well as piercings and wigs.
When you are admitted to the operating room, the nursing staff carry out additional checks before the operation. Three types of anesthesia are possible depending on the choice of the anesthetist: general anesthesia which involves loss of consciousness with complete insensitivity during the operation, spinal (or epidural) anesthesia which consists of overpressure of the sensitivity and motor skills of a lower region of the body, or locoregional anesthesia that eliminates tenderness in the area of the body that needs to be operated on.
